SkyBahamas accepts children traveling without a guardian from the ages of five through twelve inclusive. Children under the age of five, unless accompanied by an adult, will not be accepted for travel. Children having reached their thirteenth birthday will be processed as Young Persons, (YP) rather than Unaccompanied Minors. Even if the guardian wants the YP to be processed as an UM, we are not able to do this. We will escort the YP from departure to destination pickup, but we will not fill out the paperwork. The child must hold a valid ticket to the destination. The UM must be accompanied by parent or guardian to the airport.
Our Guest Service Agent must complete the Unaccompanied Minor form, and have the departure guardian read it. It states SkyBahamas's liability for the U.M., and further, the guardian must remain in the airport until the U.M.'s flight has departed.
The information regarding the person meeting at the arriving airport is of particular importance. The guardian dropping off the U.M. must have the complete information, in regards to the guardian who picks up the U.M., upon arrival.
